Brian Fine


Leading the team is our CEO, Brian Fine, a leader and innovator in the research industry. Brian was one of the original pioneers of research in the online space within Australia, helping the business market and government bodies to understand implications of the developing technologies as well as working internally to develop quality online panels. Brian has 40+ years in market and social research.

  • AMSRS Fellow and QPMR accredited; previous Chairman of AMSRS
  • Honorary Life Fellow of the International Marketing Institute of Australia
  • Full member of ESOMAR
  • Former Australian representative of ESOMAR for 7 years
  • Former president of the Council of Marketing Services Associations and Research Associations
  • Former national chairman of the Market Research Society of Australia for four years and chairman of its NSW Division for two years
  • Past President of AMSRO and currently on its committee, responsible for Quality Standards
  • Current member of the international committee to update the ESOMAR/GRBN quality guidelines
  • Currently Chair of Quality and Standards AMSRO sub-committee, and AMSRO committee member
  • Leading contributor to market research industry conferences, including multiple ‘best paper’ awards
  • Wrote the chapter on Internet in the Marketing Research State of the Art Perspectives book, published in 2000

Brian’s online research credentials include:

  • Commenced building online panels in 1999, as Managing Director of AMR Interactive
  • Worked with Harris Interactive, the global pioneer of online research, as an affiliate
  • Tested multiple sources of online recruitment, weighting processes and conducted primary research in Australia to develop ‘propensity’ weighting (by demographics, attitudes and behaviour)
  • Built the Media Metrix Australia, online audience measurement panels, as Managing Director
  • Was Managing Director of Jupiter Research Australia
  • Worked with Forrester to test and develop “Technographic Segmentation” in Australia
  • Was responsible for building the AMR Interactive online panel and then separating it off as the ORU (Online Research Unit)
  • Former chairman of the AMSRO Online Research Quality task force which developed and launched QSOAP (Quality Standards for Online Access Panels) and its accreditation system
  • Was across and sat in on the final ISO 26362 meeting to launch the new industry panel standard
